Netanyahus face corruption claim.
Israeli police are investigating allegations of money laundering against Benjamin Netanyahu in the latest scandal threatening the Prime Minister’s grip on power.
The inquiry focuses on a “large sum of money” sent to the Netanyahu family from overseas. The police have released few other details, but a senior officer said they had enough evidence to justify making the case public.
The attorney-general is already investigating claims French fraudster Arnaud Mimran donated up to €1 million ($1.4m) to Mr Netanyahu. Mimran was sentenced to eight years’ jail last week for a carbon trading fraud. He told investigators he gave money to Mr Netanyahu in 2001 and 2009, although his story has changed several times.
