A sportswear company's sponsorship deal with the Brazilian FA, the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the election of Sepp Blatter as FIFA president in 2011 are all part of the FBI's corruption investigation.
US prosecutors allege a wide range of football matches and tournaments have been tainted by bribery and kickbacks including World Cup qualifiers and South America's international tournament, the Copa America.
The bombshell announcements came on a dramatic day for football's world governing body in Zurich.
